RebelTHON Dance Party

University of Mississippi students raised over $250,000 for the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital over the past year, culminating in the annual RebelTHON dance party on Feb. 15 at Tad Smith Coliseum. During the 12-hour dance party, miracle families – those children who have received treatment from Children’s and their families – took the stage each hour to pump up fundraisers.

Doing Their Part

In an effort to support local health care workers responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, two University of Mississippi units are using 3D printers to produce personal protective gear that is in short supply. The Haley Barbour Center for Manufacturing Excellence and the IDEAlab in the J.D. Williams Library are printing face shields that will be donated to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

Goldwater Scholarship Winners

Two juniors in the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi have been awarded coveted Barry S. Goldwater Scholarships. Jax Dallas, a physical chemistry and math major from Caledonia, and William Meador, a chemistry major from Carbondale, Illinois, are the university’s 15th and 16th Goldwater Scholars.

Hot on the heels of their first South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference Championship victory, the Ole Miss Ice Rebels competed in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s regional tournament. The University of Mississippi‘s club hockey team has been a competitive presence in the SECHC since its creation a decade ago, but this victory cements UM as one of the best places to play collegiate hockey in the country.

For a fifth straight year, the University of Mississippi has been recognized by Phi Theta Kappa honor society for creating ways to support community college transfer students. UM is among 122 colleges and universities nationally on PTK’s annual Excellence in Community College Transfer Honor Roll and the only Mississippi university to be recognized all five years.
