All three degree programs at the University of Mississippi’s Patterson School of Accountancy are among the top 10 in the 2017 annual national rankings of accounting programs published by the journal Public Accounting Report. The undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs are all ranked No. 8.

Emmy Winners

University of Mississippi alumnus Gerald McRaney and former faculty member Jack Pendarvis were among the list of Emmy winners Sept. 17. McRaney won an Emmy for his performance as Dr. Nathan Katowski on the hit show “This Is Us.” Pendarvis, who came to Ole Miss as a Grisham writer-in-residence, took home his second Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program, celebrating his work on “Adventure Time,” an animated series on Cartoon Network that’s been on air since 2010.

University of Mississippi sophomore Elizabeth Fogarty represented the United States in Rotterdam, Netherlands, during the International Triathlon Union World Triathlon Grand Final in September.

Winning PR Campaign

A campaign created by students in the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi won a top award from the Southern Public Relations Federation. The winning campaign, It Starts with (Me)ek, was created and implemented by a team of 31 students led by senior lecturer Robin Street. It asks students to “just pause” before stereotyping others.

Cave Canem Poet

A University of Mississippi graduate student is the latest recipient of a prestigious award cultivating the artistic and professional growth of African-American poets. Julian David Randall, a second-year student in the university’s critically acclaimed Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program, has won the 2017 Cave Canem Award in Poetry.
